The problem

Why standard hardware fails first inside a car wash.

Painted galvanized hardware was never designed to live in a tunnel. The combination of constant moisture, recirculated detergents, hydrofluoric acid brighteners, and the chlorides tracked in by every customer's vehicle attacks every weak point at once.

Springs corrode and break. Track rust-jacks the rollers. Hinges seize. Bearings die. The visible failure is door downtime; the hidden cost is the callback cycle. Most car washes are replacing the same components every 18 to 24 months.

Stainless doesn't have those weak points. We engineered every part of the door (track, drums, springs, cable, shafts, hinges, rollers, brackets, fasteners) in 304 stainless so a single replacement cycle outlasts five of the standard ones.

Why stainless

Three reasons SSGDP stainless makes sense in a car wash.

Built for water and chemistry.

Stainless components shrug off the soaps, brighteners, and salt-laden water that destroy painted galvanized. No flaking, no rust streaks, no seized bearings.

High-cycle ready.

Sealed bearings, stainless rollers, and engineered springs hold up to the cycle counts a tunnel demands. Down-time becomes the exception, not the rule.

One-and-done replacement.

Replacing stainless once costs more up front and saves more over the life of the door. A single SSGDP package outlasts five rounds of standard hardware.

What ships in the package

What ships in a car wash package.

Every SSGDP car wash door is a complete stainless retrofit. We don't mix metals. Each item below is in 304 stainless, engineered to match the others.

  • Stainless track (2" or 3") in the configuration the building requires
  • Coated drums + 1/8" or 3/16" stainless lift cable
  • Stainless torsion springs sized for high-cycle balancing
  • Stainless rollers with sealed bearings
  • Stainless hinges, top & bottom brackets, head plates, bearing plates
  • Stainless fasteners. Every bolt, lag, and washer in the package
Common questions

Common questions from car wash operators.

Will stainless work with my existing door panels?

Yes. Our hardware retrofits standard sectional doors. Send us photos and a few measurements via Equip Your Door and we'll confirm fit.

What stainless grade do you use?

Our stainless line is built in 304, the workhorse stainless grade for harsh-environment overhead door hardware. We size and configure each package to match the building's chemistry and cycle requirements.

What does a typical car wash package cost vs replacement galvanized?

Stainless typically runs 2-3× the up-front cost of standard galvanized. Operators recoup that within the first or second replacement cycle they avoid, plus the avoided revenue loss from a door that's down.
